China, France, and the EU jointly discussed the escalation of hostilities in Ukraine and the reconciliation between Ukraine and Russia in that meeting.
Chinese President Xi Jinping said at a tripartite meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen in Paris.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China said, “Regarding the Ukrainian crisis, President Xi noted that China, France, and the EU wish for an early ceasefire and restoration of peace in Europe, and also support a political resolution of the crisis.”
Xi Jinping noted that “the three sides need to jointly help prevent the spread of side effects and escalation of hostilities, create conditions for peace negotiations, ensure international energy and food security, and maintain the stability of industrial and supply chains.”
