Shahid Mahdavi: According to a Tasnim agency report, the navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), an elite unit of the Iranian armed forces, is conducting a long-distance mission for the first time, with their ocean liner Shahid Mahdavi crossing the equator and entering the southern hemisphere.
The statement said, “After crossing the equator, IRGC Navy’s naval vessel Shahid Mahdawi entered the southern hemisphere of the Earth. In terms of distance traveled and type of mission, this is IRGC’s first long-distance maritime mission.”

According to the report providers, the ocean liner Shahid Mahdavi joined the IRGC Navy fleet in March 2023. It weighs more than 2,100 tons, is 240 meters long and 27 meters wide.
The ship is equipped with modern radars, surface-to-surface, and surface-to-air missile systems (including the Third Khordad air defense system). It is also the first Iranian ship to be equipped with long-range ballistic missiles.
