A magnitude 5.9 earthquake has struck off the east coast of Taiwan. This was reported by the island’s Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
CWB also said the tremor was recorded at 22:11 local time (New York – 10:11 AM Monday). The epicenter was located 26.8 kilometers southwest of Hualien County. The outbreak was at a depth of 8.6 km.

Within an hour starting at 17:52 on Monday, Hualien County experienced 10 consecutive aftershocks. Two of which exceed magnitude 5. The number of aftershocks in Hualien County since April 3 has reached 935.

There were no casualties in the earthquake and it was the third earthquake in one day in Hualien County.

Hualien city has the most earthquakes compared to other cities. No casualties have been reported so far.
