South Korean police detained PSY, famous for hit song Gangnam Style. Authorities accuse singer of illegally obtaining prescriptions for psychotropic drugs. Doctor involved also arrested, per Yonhap report.
PSY, real name Park Jae-sang, received prescriptions from hospital since 2022 for two medications: sleeping pills and anti-anxiety drugs. Both carry high addiction risk.
Artist’s agents claim chronic sleep disorder diagnosis. PSY took sleeping pills under doctor’s orders.
“No proxy prescriptions occurred; third parties sometimes collected medications on behalf,” stated PSY representative.
