Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ impeachment trial could end on Wednesday.
Chuck Schumer is expected to call a vote to dismiss the two articles of impeachment against Mayorkas after the senators are sworn in as jurors at noon.

It’s a move that could stymie the prosecution and frustrate Republicans who have demanded that House prosecutors be able to prosecute them. Democrats appear to be united in their opposition to moving forward.
The House votes to impeach Mayors for managing the US-Mexico border. Two articles argued that he “deliberately and systematically” refused to enforce immigration laws.
Mike Johnson, R-La. House impeachment managers appointed by the Senate delivered the charges on Tuesday. When they got there, they stood in the well of the Senate and read aloud in front of the senators.

Schumer “is the only impediment to delivering accountability for the American people,” Johnson said. “Pursuant to the Constitution, the House demands a trial.”
“The voice of the people is very clear,” said McCaul, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. “Secure the border and impeach this man, this criminal.”
Mayorkas defended the department’s efforts but said the nation’s immigration system is “fundamentally broken, and only Congress can fix it.”
