Beloved actor Ian McKellen, known for his iconic portrayal of Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, has expressed his desire to reprise the role once again.
At 85 years old, the British actor is eager to return to Middle-earth for a new film based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, that Warner Bros. plans to release in 2026, according to The Big Issue.

Warner Bros. representatives have confirmed their intention to include Gandalf in the upcoming project, hoping McKellen will bring the character to life once more. However, the veteran actor has urged the filmmakers to expedite the process.
“I was just told that Gandalf is going to be part of the new Lord of the Rings films, and they are hoping I will play him. When? I don’t know. What script? It hasn’t been written yet. So they better hurry,” McKellen remarked.

Before diving back into the role of Gandalf, McKellen plans to take a break until 2024, following a fall on the theater stage. Despite this, his enthusiasm for returning to the character remains strong.
