Sequel to thriller Smile got rave reviews from both fans and critics, even surpassing the success of the first movie, largely thanks to its lead actor.
Director Parker Finn learned from past mistakes and went back to the classics, basing this film on Stanley Kubrick’s iconic movie The Shining.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Finn said he was so inspired by his role model that he cast Ray Nicholson, son of Jack Nicholson, to play lead role opposite Naomi Scott.
Jack Nicholson, a legendary actor, starred in The Shining. “Jack Nicholson is one of my all-time favorite actors. Ray has his father’s strong genes, and his smile is so similar to Jack’s. I thought, ‘Oh my God, it’s like seeing a young Jack,’” Finn shared.
Fans quickly took to the internet, pointing out the striking resemblance between Ray and his father. Ray told Deadline last week, “He’s my inspiration. I’ve had dinner with him every night, studied him, and learned how to be human. So yes, we’ll have similarities,” calling his father a hero.
It’s unclear what Jack Nicholson thinks about all this, as he’s been living a quiet, reclusive life for years, rarely seen in public.
Fans were shocked when he recently made a surprise appearance at Paris Fashion Week, dressed in a robe and slippers, but the mystery was soon cleared up.
