The Princess of Wales, along with Prince William and their children, skipped King Charles III’s festive Christmas dinner at Buckingham Palace. A source close to the royal family explained Kate’s unexpected absence in an interview with People.

On December 19, King Charles III hosted his annual pre-Christmas dinner at Buckingham Palace. However, not all royal family members attended the important event. Many were surprised that Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children were missing from the gathering.
Although Kate has successfully completed her chemotherapy, an insider revealed she’s “not ready to fully return to her usual workload anytime soon.” Facing a life-threatening illness has led her to reconsider her priorities, focusing now on herself and her family.
“Life-threatening diseases make you reevaluate everything. She and William have always made it clear that family comes first. … You can’t go through something like this and stay the same. She different person now,” source shared.

Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith noted that Kate plans to gradually resume her royal duties and engage in public life.
“She will likely approach public appearances more strategically. People shouldn’t hold it against her if she less visible next year,” expert stated.
