Critics consider Saoirse Ronan one of best actresses of this generation. Fans of international films know her well from her roles in movies like Brooklyn, Lady Bird, and Little Women. Now 30 years old, this Irish actress on verge of reaching a new milestone.
Saoirse has taken on two remarkable roles in her latest films The Outrun and Blitz. According to predictions by American film magazine Variety, Ronan could join an elite group of actors who have received two Oscar nominations in same year.

It’s expected she may receive nominations for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress at the upcoming Oscars.
Variety is set to release its official predictions for Oscars, which will be held next March. If Saoirse does secure these nominations she’ll become only the 13th actor to achieve this feat. What’s more, she would be youngest ever to do so.
Despite being nominated for an Oscar four times previously, she has yet to win the award. This time, however, she might take home her first Academy Award.

One of her films, The Outrun, is already one of the year’s most talked-about releases. It premiered in UK on September 27, after gaining attention at Sundance Film Festival and later receiving praise in Berlin.
The film UK-Germany co-production, tells story of Rona, a young woman recovering from drug addiction who returns to her hometown after spending time in rehab. Saoirse not only stars in film but also serves as one of its producers. The film is directed by Nora Fingscheid.
Blitz on other hand, is a completely different type of film. Directed by Steve McQueen it’s a historical drama set during World War II. In movie Saoirse plays role of a mother to a nine-year-old child.
Blitz will premiere at BFI London Film Festival on October 9 and will have a limited release on November 1 before streaming on Apple TV Plus starting November 22.

Saoirse, however, doesn’t seem too concerned about awards. In a recent interview, she mentioned that she’s a bit tired of doing heavy, serious films. Speaking to CBR.com, she said, “It would be nice to do an action film.” She’s even told her agent that she’s ready for a role that’s more physically demanding than mentally exhausting.
