Rod Stewart Halts Athens Concert to Scold Disruptive Fan Over Sign

British rock legend Rod Stewart paused his performance mid-song in Athens to confront a fan disrupting the show by complaining about another holding up a sign.

The 80-year-old singer stopped during “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” at OAKA Sports Hall on Dec. 14. Video circulating online shows Stewart addressing the crowd directly.

“You’re spoiling the show for everybody,” Stewart said. “All she’s doing is putting up a sign. It’s not hurting you, is it, mate? Out the way. Leave. We don’t need you here.”

He quickly resumed the concert after telling his band to restart from the top.

Online clips of the outburst spread rapidly. Many viewers speculated Stewart’s frustration stemmed partly from his beloved Celtic football club losing 3-1 to St. Mirren in the Scottish League Cup final earlier that day.

The Athens show marked Stewart’s first concert in Greece as part of his “One Last Time” tour.

Stewart performs next in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday before a three-month break. He heads to the United States in February for dates in Hollywood, New Orleans and Las Vegas.
