Elvis Presley’s granddaughter, Riley Keough, opened up about her mother Lisa Marie Presley‘s struggle with drug addiction.
In an interview with People, Riley shared details from her mother’s memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown, which she completed after her mother’s passing.

Lisa Marie began using opioids after giving birth to her twins, Finley and Harper, in 2008. She left her life in Los Angeles and moved to countryside, distancing herself from friends and her former life.
“She had a very bright life and just wanted to disappear,” Riley explained. At the time, Riley was in London and didn’t realize her mother’s addiction was worsening, with Lisa Marie taking up to 80 prescription doses a day.
Riley said her mother’s isolation, combined with her desire to be alone with her children and husband, made the drug problem spiral.

She also knew her mother wouldn’t live long after the devastating loss of her son Benjamin. Lisa Marie Presley passed away last year at age 54 from complications related to bariatric surgery.
