American rapper Fatman Scoop has tragically passed away at the age of 53. The rapper, whose real name was Isaac Freeman III, died last Friday while performing at a concert in Connecticut, USA. His representative confirmed the news to the BBC.
Fatman Scoop was on stage at Town Center Park in Hamden when he suddenly collapsed. He was immediately taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where doctors sadly pronounced him dead on arrival, according to a statement by Mayor Lauren Garrett on Facebook.

In a statement to the BBC, Fatman Scoop’s booking agency paid tribute to the late rapper.
“Scoop was a beloved figure in the music world, whose work was loved by countless fans across the globe,” an agency spokesperson.
Scoop’s family released a heartfelt statement on social media, saying he was “a radiant soul, a beacon of light on the stage and in life. FatMan Scoop was not just a world class performer, he was a father, brother, uncle and a friend,” his family said. “He was the laughter in our lives, a constant source of support, unwavering strength and courage.”

“It is with the heaviest of hearts I announce the passing of Issac Freeman III, professionally known as Fatman Scoop,” Michael wrote. “I am honestly lost for words … you took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet, the things you taught me have truely [sic] made me the man I am today.”
Fatman Scoop was a significant figure in New York City’s hip-hop scene during the 1990s. Widely recognized for his contributions, notably producing Missy Elliott’s Grammy Award-winning hit “Loss Control” and Mariah Carey‘s “It’s Like That”.
