Director Quentin Tarantino recently opened up about the shocking incident that happened on the set of the “Rust” movie.
The accident resulted in the death of photographer Halyna Hutchins. Tarantino shared his thoughts during an appearance on the Bill Mahers Club Random podcast on YouTube.

In his remarks, Tarantino placed the majority of the responsibility—90%—on the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who he says made crucial mistakes in managing the on-set weapons. However, he also believes actor Alec Baldwin bears some responsibility.
“In this situation, I think it’s fair to say that the armorer—who is in charge of the gun—is 90% responsible for anything that happens with that gun,” Tarantino explained. “But the actor is still 10% responsible.”
Tarantino emphasized that Baldwin, as an actor, should have checked the weapon himself to ensure it was safe before using it in the scene.

The incident occurred in 2021 when Baldwin fired a weapon that was loaded with live rounds instead of blanks, leading to the death of Hutchins and the injury of director Joel Souza. While Souza was released from the hospital soon after, Hutchins tragically passed away.
Earlier this year, the criminal case against Baldwin, who had been charged with involuntary manslaughter, was dismissed due to issues with the evidence.
