Camilla, the Queen Consort, has been revealed as the royal family member who strongly opposed the marriage of Kate Middleton and Prince William.
This opposition isn’t entirely surprising, given the strained relationship between Prince William and Camilla, which even Prince Harry mentioned in his memoirs. Harry recounted how he and William, referred to as “the spare,” pleaded with their father, then Prince Charles, not to marry Camilla.

Despite their objections, Charles followed his heart, and Camilla became part of the royal family, gradually asserting her position within it.
Camilla’s disapproval didn’t stop with her marriage to Charles. According to Christopher Anderson, author of The King: The Life of Charles III, Camilla was against William’s relationship with Kate from the start.

The reason? Kate didn’t belong to the same social class, which didn’t sit well with Camilla, whom Anderson described as a fan of the aristocracy and somewhat of a snob. Although William always tolerated his stepmother, Camilla was reportedly a bit afraid of him.
Recent events have seen a shift in this dynamic. As King Charles III and Kate Middleton face health challenges, the once-feuding Camilla and William have grown closer.
Like every family, the Royal Family also has its share of problems, as Christopher Anderson often highlights. Unfortunately, two members of the Royal Family are battling cancer.
Kate Middleton has been suffering from cancer for quite some time and is currently undergoing chemotherapy, which is why she has been making fewer public appearances lately.
In March 2024, Kate revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer. On June 15, Kate made her first public appearance in six months.
