P. Diddy scandal continues to grow as his lawyers take action against U.S. authorities. They accuse agents from the Department of Homeland Security of leaking a video showing rapper hitting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. TMZ reported this citing legal documents.
Sean Combs’ (P. Diddy’s real name) lawyers claim that on May 17, 2016, the day CNN aired video, a reporter from the network reached out to P. Diddy’s team for a comment.

Reporter allegedly said CNN had surveillance footage from a Los Angeles hotel.
After this, P. Diddy’s team sent a letter to prosecutor’s office expressing concern over footage leak.
“I am bringing this to your attention because I believe you didn’t want this any more than I did,” the letter stated. Prosecutor confirmed receiving the footage and said he had already viewed it.

Lawyers argue that this video damages P. Diddy’s reputation, believing federal agents intentionally leaked it. They claim these agents who have been investigating him often made public comments on his criminal cases. Now, P. Diddy’s legal team is preparing a defense strategy.
Cassie initially accused P. Diddy of violence, filing a lawsuit that was later settled. However, the investigation reopened in 2024.
P. Diddy arrested in September on charges of sexual assault, human trafficking, and racketeering. A timeline of the scandal has been compiled here.
