The Washington Post, citing sources, previously reported that the United States is calling on Qatar to expel the Palestinian movement Hamas, whose political office is based in the Qatari capital Doha if it continues to reject a ceasefire agreement with Israel in the Gaza Strip.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken conveyed this message to the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abderrahman Al Thani, back in April.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported that Israel had given Hamas a week to accept a cease-fire proposal in the Gaza Strip, or else it threatened to launch a military operation in Rafah.

CNN, citing sources, published some details of a new proposal to Hamas, prepared by mediators from Egypt. According to him, the new proposal was drawn up with the help of Israel.
The first phase of the agreement includes the release of 20-33 hostages over several weeks in exchange for a pause in fighting and the release of Palestinian prisoners in Israel.
The duration of the ceasefire will depend on the number of hostages who can be released.
The second stage involves “restoring sustainable calm” in the Gaza Strip. According to a diplomatic source, the wording implies “a way to negotiate a permanent ceasefire without having to call it that.”

During this phase, the remaining Hamas hostages, including captured Israeli soldiers, and the bodies of the dead will be exchanged for even more Palestinian prisoners.
At the same time, Israel does not abandon its plans to achieve all the stated goals of the war in Gaza, including the complete elimination of Hamas.
According to the Israeli Kan radio station, Israel showed flexibility during the negotiations on the issues of returning residents of the Gaza Strip from the south of the enclave to the north and the withdrawal of military personnel from the Gaza Strip.
It was reported that the Egyptian plan for the deal provides for a partial withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Netzarim buffer zone in the center of the strip, which divided Gaza into two parts – north and south.

It also contains a clause stating that Israel will have less ability to physically control the flow of Palestinians who will return to the north of the Gaza Strip.
Under the proposal, residents who return to the north would be screened by Egyptian and other forces, and Israel would track them through “other instruments.”
