New Jersey Senate Primary: Murphy Steps Aside, Kim Poised for Nomination

New Jersey's first lady, , announced on Sunday her decision to withdraw from the Democratic Senate primary, potentially clearing the path for Democratic Rep. to clinch the nomination.

In a video shared on , Murphy explained, “After several months filled with both highs and challenges, I have decided to suspend my Senate campaign today.” She emphasized her commitment to honesty and factual discourse but expressed her unwillingness to engage in a divisive and negative campaign.

“This campaign has always been about the people of New Jersey, not about me,” Murphy emphasized. “Right now, it's crucial for us to come together and focus on addressing the real issues facing our state.”

Murphy and Kim both launched their Senate campaigns in November, aiming to succeed Democratic , who is facing federal charges along with his wife related to obstruction of justice and bribery. While Menendez has not officially declared his reelection plans, he has hinted at potentially running as an independent Democrat, pending exoneration from the charges.
