Meghan Markle was reportedly horrified by the modest living conditions Prince Harry endured before their marriage, according to royal biographer Robert Jobson, as reported by the New York Post.
In 2017, Prince Harry, the youngest son of King Charles III, lived in one of the smallest cottages on the grounds of Kensington Palace, while his brother, Prince William, resided in a much larger and more luxurious home with his wife, Kate Middleton. Jobson revealed that Meghan was taken aback by this apparent “inequality.”

“She was shocked by the disparity between the siblings. I don’t think she was envious, but she was genuinely surprised by how lavishly William lived compared to Harry,” Jobson explained.
The biographer also suggested that this experience marked the beginning of Meghan Markle’s strained relationship with her future in-laws.
According to Jobson, from that point on, Meghan started advising Harry on how they should plan their life together, setting the stage for future tensions within the royal family.
