Director Tim Burton revealed that he considered retiring after completing the 2019 film Dumbo. In an interview with Variety, Burton admitted that the experience left him drained, and he contemplated stepping away from his career. However, working on the Netflix series on Wednesday reignited his passion for filmmaking.
Despite his long history of creating iconic and unique films, Burton, 65, is only now receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, with the ceremony set for September 3.

Reflecting on his career, Burton expressed that he wasn’t sure he would make it to this milestone, given how close he came to retirement after Dumbo.
Burton explained that the Addams Family spin-off was like a “health camp” for him, helping him recover the creative energy he had lost. “To be honest, after Dumbo I thought: maybe this is the end? I could retire… But Wednesday gave me my energy back,” he shared.
