Jennifer Lopez, 55, has officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, 52, citing irreconcilable differences. The filing was submitted on August 20 at the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
This news has deeply impacted fans, with some blaming Lopez and others pointing fingers at Affleck for the breakup.

The couple had been facing issues in their marriage, and despite rekindling their relationship in 2021 after dating in the early 2000s, their differences proved too difficult to overcome.
One major issue to be resolved is the distribution of their joint properties, including their $60 million Beverly Hills home, which is currently listed for sale at $68 million. According to reports, Affleck has already started removing some of his belongings from the house.
Interestingly, Lopez filed for divorce on her own without a lawyer and mentioned that they did not have a prenuptial agreement. She has requested equal distribution of all properties, and the filing notes that she reserves the right to amend details as more information becomes available. Additionally, Lopez has expressed a desire to restore her original surname.

“The exact nature and extent of separate property assets and obligations are unknown to Petitioner at this time. Petitioner reserves the right to amend this Petition when same ascertained,” reads the filing.

The couple’s blended family also adds complexity to the situation. Lopez has 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Affleck shares three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.
Rumors of trouble in their marriage began circulating in May 2024, and now, just months later, their relationship appears to have reached its final chapter.
