Jennifer Garner rarely speaks about personal life, but actress recently shared honest thoughts about divorce from Ben Affleck, a relationship that lasted 13 years and brought three children.

In interview with Marie Claire UK, 53-year-old star said hardest part was not legal end marriage, but collapse of family itself.
“You have to be smart about what you can and can’t handle, and I could not handle what was out there. But what was out there,” Garner said, gesturing into the distance, “was not what was hard. The fact of it is what was hard. The actual breaking up of a family is what was hard. Losing a true partnership and friendship is what was hard.”
“They’re just so cool!” she said of Violet Anne, 20, Seraphina Rose, 17, and Samuel, 13. “Parenting now has shifted. It’s more about parenting with a button on my mouth…. You have to let them grow up and make their choices. You don’t get to control it.”
In recent years, many celebrities show former partners can remain friends. Garner and Affleck stood by this approach even as rumors suggested their close bond caused tension between Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. Their marriage officially ended in 2024.
