Rapper and producer Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) addressed allegations of assaulting a 13-year-old girl in 2000, calling it an attempt at blackmail. In a statement published by Daily Mail, he expressed sadness for his children, who will have to endure the fallout of this scandal.
“I mourn another loss of innocence. Children shouldn’t have to face such things at a young age. It’s unfair to make sense of such malicious attempts to destroy families and human spirit,” he said.

Carter revealed that Tony Buzbee, the lawyer for the alleged victim, contacted his legal team with blackmail attempts. Though the details of the proposed deal remain confidential, Jay-Z refused to comply, opting instead to expose the lawyer as a fraud.
“No, sir. It had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are. So, no, you’re not getting a single penny!” he stated.
He reminded the public of his rise from poverty and his commitment to upholding honor and protecting children, rather than exploiting people for personal gain.

“These accusations are so vile in nature that I ask you to file a criminal case, not a civil one. Anyone who commits a crime against a minor deserves to be in prison,” Carter declared.
