In a recent interview, Hayden Panettiere, 35, sparked concern among her fans. During the interview she discussed the heartbreaking death of her brother which visibly affected her.
On Wednesday, September 18, Panettiere’s behavior during her interview with People magazine was noticeably different. Her body language and speech appeared unusual, leading many to speculate that she may have been under the influence.
People magazine shared a video of the interview on their Instagram account, and in it Panettiere’s speech seemed disjointed, and she appeared to struggle with forming her words.
Fans expressed their concerns through various comments. One person wrote, “There should be a law against doing interviews and also posting videos of a public figure OBVIOUSLY under the influence of something OR just not doing well. Shame. Reminds me of Anna Nicole….”
The mention of Anna Nicole refers to Anna Nicole Smith, who passed away in 2007 due to an accidental drug overdose.
Many fans also criticized the decision to post the interview. The second comment read, “Whoever filmed this then published should be fired. Quite literally what is wrong with you VULTURES. This is someone’s mother, daughter, friend. Absolutely unprofessional to have posted this.”
Another fan commented, “The choice to post this was certainly bold, but more so embarrassing, inconsiderate, heartless, and ignorant. Between this & whoever’s in charge of writing your headlines, your whole social media team should be fired.”
Panettiere’s representative told Page Six that the actress was not under the influence and explained that discussing her brother’s passing for the first time was extremely emotional for her, and the day had been long and exhausting.
In 2020, Panettiere had entered rehab and seemed to have found peace. While People magazine did not indicate whether the Rising Helen actress has had a relapse, she was honest about her recent struggles during the interview, admitting that she had to endure seeing unflattering paparazzi photos of herself.
