Elon Musk has ridiculed the recent arrest of Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, in France.
The American billionaire responded to the news of Durov’s arrest on his social network, X (formerly Twitter), where he pointedly referred to the incident as a striking advertisement for the First Amendment to the US Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech.

In a sarcastic jab at Europe’s approach, Musk predicted that by 2030, people in Europe could face execution simply for liking a meme online that has been banned in their country. “In 2030, in Europe, you will be executed for liking a meme,” Musk quipped on his blog.
Pavel Durov was detained at a Paris airport on August 24, as French law enforcement agencies suspect him of being involved in crimes committed via the Telegram platform, including fraud.
Vivek Ramaswamy says, “It’s Telegram today. It’ll be X tomorrow.” In response, Musk said 100%.

The Russian entrepreneur has been placed in custody, with formal charges expected to be filed on August 25. If his crimes are proven, he may face imprisonment for around 20 years.
