Brittany Cartwright, 35, filed for divorce from Jax Taylor, 45, on August 27, 2024. The couple known from “Vanderpump Rules” met in 2015 and got married in 2019. They have a 3-year-old son named Cruz.
Cartwright cited “irreconcilable differences” in her filing. She listed their separation date as January 24, 2024. Cartwright is requesting primary custody of Cruz, with visitation rights for Taylor. She’s asked the court to terminate spousal support for both parties.

The decision was “a long time coming” and not made lightly. Cartwright felt it was necessary for her and her son’s best interests. She took the step to make this decision because of the serious relationship between them in the last few months.Taylor is experiencing mixed emotions but understands the decision.
A source tells People that the divorce is “something Brittany knew she had to do for the best interest of herself and her son.” Adding, Cartwright filed “in order to move forward and put a stop to this tumultuous cycle they’ve been living in.”
“There’s a lot that has transpired over the past few months that she could not look past,” the insider adds. “This decision wasn’t made lightly but she feels adamant that it was the right one.”

The couple had announced they were “taking time apart” in February 2024. Taylor recently completed a 30-day stay at a mental health facility. They will continue working together on their Bravo show, “The Valley.”
Cartwright first revealed their separation on their joint podcast, “When Reality Hits,” on February 29, 2024. She wanted to address the situation before the premiere of “The Valley” on March 19, 2024.

Cartwright is reportedly not interested in having anything to do with Taylor outside of co-parenting and work commitments. The second season of “The Valley” is currently in production.
