An Australian airline is facing criticism after showing an R-rated movie during flight. Passengers couldn’t choose films for their individual screens, so the airline followed its usual practice of screening a family-friendly movie.
However, what they showed instead was Daddy, an indie drama starring Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn, which many found far from suitable.

Daddy is personal drama that takes place almost entirely in a taxi, where the driver, played by Penn, offers advice to a young woman, played by Johnson, who struggling with her love life.
Film features explicit scenes including nudity and strong language making it inappropriate for general audiences.
In statement to Entertainment Weekly, the airline apologized, saying, “The film was clearly unsuitable, and we regret this incident. It our standard to show family films during disruptions.”

Some speculate the airline may have mistaken the movie’s title, which refers to father. Coincidentally, in the film, the young woman calls the taxi driver “daddy” during their intimate conversation, adding to the confusion.
