Aubrey O’Day has made serious allegations against Sean “Diddy” Combs. She claims he manipulated and controlled her throughout her involvement in the reality show “Making the Band” when she was just 21 years old.
Now O’Day makes the harsh criticism he has endured. She points out how Coombs played an important role in shaping her public persona.
“I look at the beginning of ‘Making the Band’ and little Aubrey auditioning, and I’m like, ‘I don’t know how I became the sexy face one,’” she said on a forthcoming appearance of the “Crysis Queen” podcast,” per the Daily Mail.
She shared unsettling moments where Combs dictated even the minutiae of her appearance, including an incident where she was sent out of the studio for not having polished toenails—an act she described as emblematic of a larger cycle of manipulation.
“[Combs] is on camera saying how much he hates it, but he’s off-camera telling me all the ways I needed to be groomed properly like down to my toenails,” she added.
She lamented that her expulsion from the girl group Danity Kane in 2008 wasn’t because of any professional shortcomings, but because she fell short of meeting Combs’ arbitrary personal demands.
In her account, O’Day drew a parallel between the grooming process and military-style conditioning, stressing that it involves systematically dismantling a person’s identity before remolding them to suit a prescribed image.
