The death of 68-year-old Mozambican Alexander Surikov has been confirmed and his initial cause of death has been revealed. This was reported by TASS citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
According to sources, he died in Maputo. The primary cause of death is stroke. Official mourning will soon be announced due to the death of Alexander Surikov.

Alexander Surikov, a graduate of MGIMO, has been involved in diplomatic activities since 1978. He has served in various capacities both in the Central Office of the Ministry of External Affairs and in foreign affairs.
Between 2004 and 2008, he headed the Economic Cooperation Department before serving as Ministerial Advisor in Spain until 2012.
Upon his return to Moscow, Surikov assumed the role of Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Subsequently, he was transferred to the post of Deputy Head of the Africa Division. Since 2017, he has been serving as ambassador to Mozambique.
