English actress Maggie Smith, known for her iconic roles in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey, has passed away at the age of 89. Reported by The Guardian.
Smith who was just three months shy of her 90th birthday, died peacefully in a UK hospital on the morning of Friday, September 27.

Her sons said in an emotional statement, “She passed away surrounded by friends and family. Though she cherished her solitude, in the end, she was not alone. She leaves behind two sons and five adoring grandchildren, who are heartbroken by the loss of their remarkable mother and grandmother.”
